MIAMI, Fla. -- The University of Memphis women's golf team posted a final-round 301 (+13) at the Weston Hills Country Club to finish third in the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge.

"I'm very proud of the way the team played," Memphis head coach Beth Harrelson said. "They finished really well and properly represented the U of M."

Marissa Steen (70-75-74) set the pace for the Lady Tigers with a fifth place individual finish. It was Steen's fifth top-five finish of the season and the sixth time the junior from West Chester, Ohio has landed inside the top-10 individually.

Alex Aläng posted the ninth top-20 finish of her career, recovering from an opening round 80 with back-to-back 74's to earn a share of 19th position. Julia Hodgson turned in a second consecutive 76 in the final round to land in a tie for 21st, while Kathleen Glavin finished alone in 33rd with rounds of 80-75-77. Ashley Kees finished in a tie for 67th with scores of 81-75-81.

Texas State (307-301-294) fired a tournament-low 294 on the final day to move past second-round leader FIU (305-300-301) and claim the victory by four strokes. Memphis (307-3001-301) finished two strokes behind FIU.

"Everyone really fought until the end and finished strong," Harrelson said. "I'm lucky to have such a great team."

The Lady Tigers now have two weeks off before traveling to Augusta, Ga. for the Administaff Lady Jaguar Classic on Mar. 13-14.
