Lady Tigers in Fourth at USA Lady Jaguar Invitational

MOBILE, Ala.—The University of Memphis women’s golf team posted a team score of 309 (+21) in the first round of the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational and currently sits in fourth position. Second round play was suspended due to darkness and inclement weather and will be completed Tuesday morning. The Lady Tigers are currently eight strokes back of first round leader Florida International (301). Troy (302) and Stetson (303) are in second and third, respectively. Four players representing three schools are tied for the individual lead after round one. Stetson’s Alex Buelow (36-37) and Lauren Cate (37-36), Winthrop’s Kayla Cline (33-40) and FIU’s Cristina Marin (35-38) all shot 73 in the first round to finish one-over par. Marissa Steen fired a three-over-par 75 in round one to lead Memphis and grab a share of sixth place individually. Steen is coming off a 13th place finish at the Hurricane Invitational where she posted a career-low 69 in the second round. Kathleen Glavin and Sarah Mathews both turned in opening round 77’s and are tied for 16th place. Julia Hodgson and Alex Aläng are in a tie for 34th position after carding 80’s in the first round at the Azalea City Golf Course. The second round will be completed Tuesday morning with the third round to follow immediately. Second-round play is scheduled to begin at 8 am (CT).
