LAS VEGAS - Stacey Tate led the University of Memphis women's golf team through the first round of the UNLV Spring Invite on Monday with a 1-under 71.

The Lady Tigers are tied for 12th in the 19-team field after the first of three rounds played on the par-72, 6,153 yard course at Boulder Creek Golf Club. Tate is tied for seventh, three strokes behind Long Beach State's Kay Hoey and Indiana State's Shannon Johnson for the lead. Long Beach State holds a one stroke lead over UNLV with a 289.

Freshman Kayla Stewart is tied for 40th after carding the second best Memphis score with a 77, three strokes better than sophomore transfer Dawn-Marie Conaty who shot a 79 and is tied for 57th. Senior Bernie Rosero scored an 81 and Rachel Larson ended the first day with an 84.

The Lady Tigers will play the second round on Tuesday and finish with a final third round on Wednesday.
