Hodgson and Steen Tied for Sixth After Day One at Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. - University of Memphis junior Julia Hodgson and senior Marissa Steen concluded first round play at Augusta State's Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate tied for sixth-place, helping the team (307) to an eighth-place day one finish.
The duo of Hodgson and Steen overcame a nearly one-hour lightning delay at Augusta's Forest Hills Golf Club to fire identical scores of 74, throughout day one of the three-day tournament. Junior Sarah Mathews was the Lady Tigers' third leading scorer, shooting 79, while senior Kathleen Glavin and freshman Ashleigh Whisenant clubbed identical scores of 80.
Memphis' day one team tally of 307 places the Lady Tigers in eighth at the conclusion of round one play. The U of M narrowly trails seventh-place finisher and familiar foe, East Tennessee State, who shot 306 throughout the tournament's first round.
