Women's Golf Closes Out Second Round at Augusta State

The University of Memphis women's golf team shaved 11 strokes off its first round score to post a 324 in the second round of the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate, Saturday, at the Forest Hills Golf Course. Memphis now stands at a 659 team score for the event, just eight strokes away from Kennesaw State.
Julia Hodgson continues to the lead the Tigers, posting an 80 on Saturday after Friday's 79 to stand in a tie for 55th at +15. After picking up one birdie on the back nine on Friday, Hodgson found one on the front nine Saturday, birdying her final hole to close the day at +8.
Teammate Alex Alang shaved two strokes off her Friday total, posting an 81 to remain in a tie for 77th at +20 for the tournament. Like Hodgson, Alang's one birdie on Saturday came on the front nine, as she birdied six to go to +6.
Ashleigh Whisenant shaved six strokes off her first round score to finish the day at +22. Teammate Natalie Turk had a solid finish to her round. She birdied six and then made par on her last three holes to finish +2 on the front nine and to finish +11 for the day.
Shelby Sain rounded out the Memphis scores with a +17. After a tough back nine, she posted a +4 off the front nine to round out her day, including three straight pars on one through three.
