First Round Results in PDF Format Get Acrobat Reader

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of Memphis women's golf team posted a 296 (+8) to claim the lead after one round in the Lady Eagle Invitational.

Marissa Steen fired a one-under-par 71 to lead the Lady Tigers and take the individual lead heading into the final round Tuesday. She holds a one-stroke lead over Janet Steen (Belmont).

Kathleen Glavin and Ashley Kees both turned in one-over-par 73's at the par-72, 6,143-yard Hattiesburg Country Club and are tied for third position. Kees is competing as an individual.

Alex Aläng also landed in the top-10, posting an opening round 74 to grab a share of ninth position. Sarah Mathews carded a 78 in her first round since returning from injury and is tied for 17th. Julia Hodgson is in a tie for 27th position after an 81 in the first round.

Memphis' first-round 296 puts the Lady Tigers two strokes in front of tournament-host Southern Miss (298) heading into the final round Tuesday. Troy (302) is in third.

"I'm looking forward to the competition tomorrow," Harrelson said.

The Lady Eagle Invitational wraps up tomorrow, March 22 with the final round set to start at 8 a.m. (CT).
