Two Lady Tigers in Top 10 at Golden Eagle Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - University of Memphis women's golf sophomore Stacey Tate matched a career round low and finished the day tied for third at the Southern Miss Lady Eagle Invitational on Monday. Tate shot even-par 71 in the first round of the tournament and then followed it with a 2-over 73 in the second round. The 144 two-round total ties her for the fifth best low 36 hole score at Memphis. The New Zealand native is three strokes behind the leader, Birmingham Southern's Jill Stupiansky (69-72--141). With a final round remaining on Tuesday, the Tigers (305-305--610) are in sixth place, 26 strokes behind Birmingham Southern (291-293--584) for first place. Tournament host Southern Miss (293-310--603) is in third and C-USA foe UAB (312-308--620) is in eighth place. Also in the top 10 individually is Memphis sophomore Meghan Mahoney who is competing in the tournament as an individual. Mahoney stands in an eighth place tie after shooting a 3-over 74 in both the first and second rounds. Sophomores Ashley Burross (76-78--154) and Kathryn O'Rourke (79-75-154) are tied for 28th place. O'Rourke tallied a 4-over-par 75 in the second round and Burross pegged a 5-over in the first. Other Lady Tigers competing in the tournament are Cameron Barber (79-79--158) who is tied for 41st place and Bernie Rosero (80-84--164) who is tied for 53rd.
