@MemphisWGolf Finishes Play at Rebel Intercollegiate

OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Memphis women’s golf team finished the last two rounds of action at the Rebel Intercollegiate Saturday, with expected inclement weather condensing the play to two days. Memphis had roudns of 307 and 308 on Saturday, finishing the tournament with 932, placing them 18th, just one stroke behind Murray State and Colorado State.
Leighann Cabush led the Lady Tigers during the final day of action, shooting 71 (-1) in the second round and finishing her day with a round of 74 (+2). The 71 from Cabush is her lowest 18-hole score this year, the freshman had previously shot 73 on five different occasions.
Ashley Kees had identical rounds of 77 (+5), with Julia Gerlach right behind her, also with identical rounds, but with 78 (+6). Shelby Sain finished the scoring for the Lady Tigers, shooting rounds of 81 (+9) and 79 (+7). Ashleigh Whisenant withdrew from the tournament after the first day, not completing either round on Saturday.
GRU Augusta finished with the title, shooting 871 (+7) for the tournament. The 54-hole score is the second lowest score in tournament history. Jessica Haigwood from Augusta took the individual title with a 54-hole score 210 (-6), which is the third lowest 54-hole individual score in tournament history.
The Lady Tigers will next be in action for the American Athletic Championship beginning Sunday, April 20 in Hammock Beach, Fla.
