Women's Golf 17th Through Second Round at M&F Bank Rebel Intercollegiate

On a day when seven of the 18 participating teams posted a team score of +20 or higher on a windy Saturday afternoon, the University of Memphis women’s golf team posted a 318 in the second round of the M&F Bank Rebel Intercollegiate Tournament.
Julia Hodgson shaved five strokes off her first round score, birdying four holes, including three on the front side. Hodgson started on 10 and bogeyed three of her first four holes, but birdying 14 to regain her momentum. She closed her first nine holes with pars on two holes, then finished her last five holes in a flurry, picking up birdies on five, eight and nine. The back-to-back birdies to end the day dropped her score to a +4 (76), a five-stroke improvement from her Friday round.
Alex Aläng remains the highest-rated individual Tiger though after a one-stroke improvement on her Friday round, posting a +4 (76). Alang found just one birdie on Saturday, but it was on her final hole (nine), giving her a score of just two over on the front nine holes. She is currently tied for 54th in the individual race, while teammate Julia Hodgson improved 10 places and is tied for 71st heading into the final round on Sunday.
Coastal Carolina leads all teams after posting a team score of 289 (+1) on Saturday. Three of the other nationally-ranked programs in the field are right behind them. Tulane (No. 20) was the lone squad to post a score under par, finishing with a 286 (-2) to now sit in second with a 579. No. 24 Baylor is three strokes behind Tulane at 582 after posting a 293 (+5) on Saturday. No. 29 LSU rounds out the top four in with a combined score of 585 after posting a 292 (+6), Saturday.
