Memphis Posts Season-Low Tournament Total to Finish Second at EKU Lady Colonel Classic

RICHMOND, Ky.--The University of Memphis women's golf team posted a season-low tournament total of 909 and finished second in the EKU Lady Colonel Classic. Alex Aläng carded rounds of 75-73-76 and posted a career-low third place individual finish to lead the Lady Tigers. Memphis was tied for the lead after two rounds with Arkansas State and Morehead State. Morehead State carded a final round 300 to capture the team title by four strokes over Memphis. Arkansas State posted a tournament total of 913 to finish four strokes behind Memphis in third. "I'm very proud of the team's performance this weekend," said Memphis head coach Beth Harrelson. "We posted a season-low, and that should give some good momentum going into the (Conference USA Championship)." Marissa Steen turned in rounds of 76-74-75 to grab a share of fourth position. This is her third consecutive top-five finish. She earned medalist honors at the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational and followed that up with a fifth place finish at the Cincinnati Spring Invitational. Julia Hodgson carded scores of 74-78-77 to post a career-low finish of tied for 13th. Hodgson has now posted back-to-back top-20 finishes after posting a 19th place showing at the Cincinnati Spring Invitational. Kathleen Glavin finished in a tie for 29th position with scores of 77-81-76. Sarah Mathews posted a 45th place showing with rounds of 80-78-83. Memphis now has one week off before beginning the Conference USA Championship on April 18.
