Memphis Fires Tournament-Low 296 in Round Two of C-USA Championship

GULF SHORES, Ala. - The University of Memphis women's golf fired a tournament-low 296 in the second round of the Conference USA Women's Golf Championship to move into a tie for third position. Marissa Steen also posted a tournament-low individual round of 70 (-2) in round two to climb into fourth position on the leader board with a 36-hole total of 147 (77-70). Alex Aläng fired a second round 73 to post a 36-hole score of 152 (79-73) and take a share of 13th place, while Kathleen Glavin (79-76) finds herself in a tie for 23rd. Julia Hodgson rebounded with a second-round 77 to turn a two-day total of 159 (82-77) and is tied for 32nd. Ashley Kees is tied for 34th position after turning in scores of 77-83. UTEP posted a second-straight team score of 302 and 36-hole total of 604 to pull ahead of first-round co-leader SMU, which turned in a 306 on day two to fall into a tie for third with Memphis. Two-time defending champion Tulane (303-304) moved into second position with a second round 304. Marita Engzelius (Tulsa) posted the a one-under-par 71 on day two to take a three-shot lead over Teresa Nogues (UTEP) and Maribel Lopez Porras (Tulane), who both turned in 36-hole scores of 146 (+2). Marissa Steen is in fourth at 147 (+3). Memphis finishes the C-USA Women's Golf Championship tomorrow, April 19. Live scoring will be available via www.golfstat.com.
