lady Tigers In Battle at Conference USA Championships

Hattiesburg, MS - Quite a battle is developing at the 2002 Conference USA Championships being hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg Country Club. The University of Memphis Lady Tiger golf team posted a team score of 295 in the opening round of the tournament and trail leader South Florida by five strokes and second place Tulane by four strokes. Newcomer TCU is in fourth place at 298.
Katie Ruhe of South Florida and Lindsay Hulwick of Tulane are tied for medalist honors after 18-holes with scores of two under par 70. Memphis's Jennifer Jaszek and Sandra Hellsvik lead the Lady Tigers after carding scores of even par 72. Sophomore Meaghan Francella, the defending conference champion, is tied for 11th with a 74, while Marianne Ruud is tied for 24th at 77 and Abby More is tied for 31st at 79..
Louisville rounds out the top five teams after shooting a team score of 304. UAB is one stroke behind the Lady Cardinals with a 305 and East Carolina and Southern Mississippi are tied for seventh at 306. Cincinnati rounds out the field with a score of 325.
Second out action is slated for Saturday morning.
