PALM COAST, Fla. – The University of Memphis women’s golf team finished first day action at the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship in fifth place with a 319 (+31). The Lady Tigers are just 12 strokes behind first place No. 18 UCF.

Leighann Cabush and Natalie Turk led the Lady Tigers in the first round, both shooting rounds of 78 (+6), tying them for ninth place. Ashley Kees shot an 81 (+9), putting her tied for 20th. Julia Gerlach finished one behind Kees, shooting an 82 (+10). Shelby Sain rounded out the scoring for the Lady Tigers, shooting a 95 (+23).

No. 18 UCF sits in first place at with a 307 (+19), followed closely by Cincinnati at 311 (+23). Memphis sits just five strokes behind No. 38 Louisville who shot a 314 (+26) in the first round.
