@MemphisWGolf Jumps to 4th After Round Two of American Athletic Conference Championship

PALM COAST, Fla. – The University of Memphis women’s golf team improved to fourth place in the field of seven teams Monday, as the Lady Tigers jumped ahead of the University of Cincinnati and sit only four strokes behind SMU for third place.
Junior Ashley Kees led the way, shooting a tournament low 71 (-1). SMU’s Jenny Haglund also shot 71 on Monday. Kees finished the round tied with four other golfers for third place with a 152 (+8). Haglund leads all golfers with a 147 (+3) with UCF’s Ashley Holder in second at 150 (+6).
Leighann Cabush shot 75 (+3) in the second round, putting her in eighth place, just one stroke behind Kees.
Julia Gerlach shot 78 (+6). Shelby Sain rounded out the scoring for the Lady Tigers in the round, with an 82 (+10). Natalie Turk finished the second round with an 86 (+14) after being tied for team lead in the first round at 78 (+6).
UCF leads the tournament heading into the final round with a score of 612 (+36), followed by Louisville with a score of 616 (+40) and SMU at 621 (+45).
The Lady Tigers will be among the first on the course tomorrow morning for the third round.Sain will tee off the first hole at 8:00 a.m. ET being paired with a USF golfer. Turk will tee off ten minutes after Sain. Gerlach will follow, paired with a golfer from USF and one of the individuals from Houston. Cabush and Kees will be the final two Lady Tigers on the course, also paired with golfers from USF and Houston. Complete tee times for the round three can be found here.
