GULF SHORES, Ala. - The University of Memphis women's golf team shot a tournament-low final round score of 303 to finish tied for fourth-place with SMU at the 2012 Conference USA Championship.

The Lady Tigers (310-316-303--929) used the tournament's final round to rally back from a difficult second round of play. After shooting a day two team score of 316, the U of M battled back during the tournament's third round, one in which four Lady Tigers scored 77 or below.

Junior Alex Aläng led the charge and finished as Memphis' leading competitor, carding rounds of 78-75-76--229 to claim 15th place. Aläng was trailed by senior Marissa Steen, who shot 75-82-74--231 to finish tied for 18th.

Junior Julia Hodgson finished 21st with rounds of 78-78-76--232, while senior Kathleen Glavin earned a 33rd place finish with scores of 81-82-77--240. Junior Sarah Mathews finished tied for 36th by carding rounds of 79-81-81--241.

As a team, Memphis has now claimed fourth-place in each of C-USA's last three women's golf championships.

Tulsa took home the Conference USA Championship trophy by carding rounds of 299-291-294--884, which finished an impressive 13 strokes ahead of second-place finisher UCF (306-293-298--897). Tulane took home a third-place finish, having shot 301-296-304--901 throughout the three-day tournament.

The Green Wave's Maribel Porras-Lopez claimed tournament medalist honors by firing rounds of 73-72-71--216.

The Lady Tigers have now concluded the scheduled portion of their 2011-12 schedule. NCAA Regional Championships are slated to be played May 10-12.
