@MemphisWGolf Finishes Fifth in FedEx Memphis Women's Intercollegiate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's golf team finished in fifth place in the season-opening FedEx Memphis Women's Invitational at Ridgeway Country Club. The Lady Tigers posted a final-round score of 305 to finish the tournament with a score of 917.
Freshman Leighann Cabush shot a final-round 75 and finished tied for sixth place in her first collegiate tournament with a 224 (75-74-75 - 224) in the event. Shelby Sain finished tied for 11th after shooting a three-round total of 226 (76-75-75). Sain set a career best for 54-hole score (226), and matched her career-best with a low round of 75. Ashleigh Whisenant and Ashley Kees both posted top-35 finishes, with Whisenant shooting the team's best round of the day with a 74. Andrea Cropper finished in 46th after shooting a 246 (80-85-81).
For the third consecutive season, Samford University won the team title after shooting an 889 (303-297-289). Samford's top scorer, Sydney Needham, won the individual tournament title with a 219 (76-75-68).
The Lady Tigers return the course on Sept. 16 and 17 at the 2013 Cardinal Cup in Simpsonville, Ky.
