@MemphisWGolf Finishes in Eight Place at Cardinal Cup

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women’s golf team finished in eighth place at the Cardinal Cup in Simpsonville, Ky. The Lady Tigers shot a 307-306-306 – 919 at the Cardinal Club, finishing one shot ahead of Illinois State.
Freshman Leighann Cabush and junior Ashley Kees finished tied for 32nd to pace the Lady Tigers. Kees shot a 77 in round three and Cabush shot a 76 in Tuesday’s round. Both golfers ended up with a 54-hole score of 231.
Natalie Turk shot an 81-84-75 – 240 to finish 54th. Turk’s 75 in round three was the best score of the day for Memphis, and helped her move up 10 places during the round.
Three Tigers golfers set individual marks in Kentucky. Ashley Kees posted her best 54-hole score at Memphis (231), while Ashleigh Whisenant tied her best 54-hole mark with a 232. Shelby Sain's 74 in round one is her best 18-hole score at Memphis.
Louisville won the team title after shooting a 283-284-292 – 859 and finished the event at five-under par as a team. Louisville’s Laura Restrepo won the individual title by one shot over teammate Emily Haas.
The Lady Tigers return to the course in two weeks at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational in West Point, Miss. The three-day tournament at the Old Waverly Golf Club starts on Sept. 30 and will conclude on Oct. 2.
