Women's Golf Finishes 11th Overall

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Memphis women's golf team had to sit out two days worth of rain delays before getting on the course at the Capstone Club of Alabama to compete in the Alabama Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate. When the Lady Tigers did get on course, Memphis fired a first round 333 and a second round 340 to finish 11th out of 12 participating teams. Memphis' lone senior, Jennifer Jaszek, finished in a five-way tie for 14th after shooting 80 in the opening 18 and 78 on the second 18 for a combined 158, 14 over par. Alabama's Darby Slight shot par to win the tournament, firing a 70 in the opening round and a 74 in the final round to finish with a 144. Mississippi State's Amanda Mathis was second, three strokes back at 147. Memphis freshman Kathryn O'Rourke finished in a tie for 35th at 166, while Meghan Mahoney finished tied for 49th at 171. Ashley Burross was tied for 57th at 178, while Cameron Barber and Christy Hull wrapped up the Memphis scoring at 187 and 210, respectively. Florida State won the team title with a 610 through two rounds, while Mississippi State finished second at 616. LSU, Alabama and Jacksonville State rounded out the top five team finishers. Memphis travels to the University of Kentucky for their next tournament, Oct. 3-5.
