CINCINNATI, Ohio—The University of Memphis women’s golf team is in fifth place after one round of play at the Cincinnati Fall Classic. Marissa Steen paced the Lady Tigers with an opening round 78 at the Elks Run Golf Course.

Steen’s 78 put her in a tie for 10th after one round of play. Freshman Sarah Mathews posted 79 and is currently in a tie for 14th. Julia Hodgson, making her debut for Memphis, fired an opening round 81. She is currently tied with fellow Lady Tiger Leslie Grabeman for 28th place. Kathleen Glavin is in 63rd after carding an opening round 89.

Morehead State is in first after posting a team total of 313. Xavier is one back in second at 314, and Akron is in third at 315.

Kristen Hill of Akron and Joyce Trus of Murray State are tied for the lead in the individual competition after shooting opening round 74’s. Marisa Kamelgard is one stroke back in third after posting 75.

Second round play had to be suspended due to darkness. Teams will finish their second rounds tomorrow morning and then immediately move on to the third round.
