Lady Tigers Finish Sixth in Cincinnati Fall Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio—Marissa Steen and Leslie Grabeman fired final rounds of 75 to lead the University of Memphis women’s golf team to a sixth place finish at the Cincinnati Fall Invitational. Steen and Grabeman posted three-round totals of 235 to tie for 10th place. The Lady Tigers posted a team total of 950 for the tournament, the lowest three-round tournament total since Harrelson took over the program in August of 2008. Sarah Mathews fired rounds of 79-83-77 to finish T25. Julia Hodgson (81-84-79) and Kathleen Glavin (89-81-80) finished T33 and T54, respectively. “Everyone really played well out there today,” said Lady Tiger head coach Beth Harrelson. “This shows that everyone’s hard work has been worth it. It’s also exciting for the future.” Cincinnati’s third-round 307 pushed the Bearcats (320-310-307=937) from third place into a tie for first with Morehead State (313-314-310=937). Cincinnati won on the tiebreaker, as its fifth score, Kate Moore's topped Morehead's fifth scorer, Emma Eksell. Southern Mississippi finished third with a 324-317-300=941. Morehead State's Marisa Kamelgarn won medalist honors, posting rounds of 75-78-70=223, one shot ahead of Murray State's Joyce Trus (74-74-76=224). The low round of the tournament went to Virginia Espejo, who fired a 69 in the third round.
