Lady Tigers in Second Place After First Round

Lexington, Ky. - After the first round at the Wildcat Fall Invitational, the University of Memphis women's golf team is in second place with three Lady Tigers finishing in the top eight individually. The U of M shot a 309 for the second-straight time, finishing the first of three days seven strokes behind the leader, Mississippi State in the 12 team competition. Sophomore Kathryn O'Rourke led the team with a 73, 2-over-par, good enough to put her in a tie for second place. The round is a career high for the Holmes, New York native whose previous high was a 76 last year. O'Rourke is one stroke behind Marshall University's Amber Churchill for the lead. One stroke behind O'Rourke, sophomore Stacey Tate is in sixth place with a 74. Tate shot a team low 34 in the front nine. Sophomore Meghan Mahoney also had a strong first round and is tied for eighth place after shooting a 76. The Lady Tigers will play its second round in the tournament hosted by the University of Kentucky on Saturday. The tournament will conclude with a third round on Sunday. Team First Round Finishes 1.
