JONESBORO, Ark.--Marissa Steen fired a final round 74 to lead the University of Memphis women's golf team to an eighth place finish at the Lady Red Wolf Classic. The tournament is being held at the par-71, 5,983-yard Jonesboro Country Club. Steen posted a three-round total of 230 (78-78-74) to finish tied for fourth. Senior Rachel Larson turned in rounds of 81-75-76 to finish tied for seventh. Kathleen Glavin and Caitlin McDonald carded totals of 246 (82-80-84) and 273 (88-91-94), respectively. Junior Leslie Grabeman was forced to withdraw due to illness. "Considering what we had to go through I'm proud of our team. Leslie fought through everything yesterday just in order to be able to finish the round. It was tough for us today when she had to withdraw because we were losing a great player and a great leader. However, Marissa and Rachel stepped up and helped carry us to our best finish of the year," said Lady Tiger Head Coach Beth Harrelson. Freshman Marissa Steen's three-round total of 230--her lowest as a Lady Tiger--earned her the first top-5 showing of her young collegiate career. "Marissa just continues to impress me. I think she's finally adjusting to the whole collegiate experience, and now that she's finally feeling more comfortable, her play continues to improve," said Coach Harrelson. The Lady Tigers posted a team total of 957 (320-315-322) and finished 8th. Drake University won the team competition by carding a total of 917 (306-305-306). Central Arkansas finished six shots back in second. Nicole Forshner of Central Arkansas fired rounds of 74-72-77 to win the individual competition by one shot over Olivia Lansing of Drake. The Lady Tigers will return home before traveling to their final fall competition, the Rollins College Tournament, on October 26.
