MIAMI LAKES, FLA.—The University of Memphis women’s golf team will kick off its spring schedule this weekend, Feb. 15-17 at the Qdoba Invitational hosted by the University of Miami. The tournament will be held at the Don Shula Golf Resort.

Senior Rachel Larson looks to build off her strong finish to the fall season. Larson fired rounds of 81-75-76 and 78-83-78 at the Lady Red Wolf Classic and Ross Resorts Invitational to finish tied for seventh and 19th, respectively. She played in three of the four tournaments last spring, carrying a 79.7 scoring average, posting two top-20 finishes and carding a low round of 74.

“Rachel is playing extremely well right now,” said Lady Tiger head coach Beth Harrelson. “Her touch around the green and overall feel with her short game is wonderful at the moment. I expect her to lead us to a great showing this weekend.”

The Lady Tigers will be facing some stiff competition this weekend as they compete against a field of 14 teams, including nine of the top 100 teams in the nation. The field is as follows: #95 Augusta State, # 43 Georgia State, #90 Illinois State, #16 Louisville, Mercer, #89 Miami, #81 South Florida, #61 Tulane, #38 North Carolina State, Memphis, Oklahoma City University, North Carolina-Greensboro, Coastal Carolina, and #64 Washington State.

“This is an extremely strong field, and we’re excited to play against such a wide gamut of teams,” said Coach Harrelson.

Freshman Marissa Steen will also look to continue her streak of top-20 finishes, having posted back to back top-20 finishes at the Lady Red Wolf Classic and Ross Resort Invitational to close out the fall. She carded totals of 230 (78-78-74) and 235 (78-77-75) to finish tied for fourth and 11th, respectively.

Sophomore Caitlin McDonald will be sitting this tournament out due to a knee injury, leaving the Lady Tigers with only four players. She is expected to make her return soon.

The Qdoba Invitational tees off Sunday, February 15 at 8:00 a.m. (CT). The tournament continues with the second and third rounds to be played Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Follow all the action as it unfolds at www.golfstat.com.
