BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The University of Memphis women's golf team finished in third place in the Fighting Camel Classic in its first tournament of the spring. The event was originally scheduled for 36 holes, but heavy rains and thunderstorms washed out the second round.

Sophomore Leslie Grabeman led the Memphis with a tie for fourth place finish in her debut tournament as a Lady Tiger. Grabeman posted a 76. Junior Rachel Larson tied for 12th a 78. Senior Dawn-Marie Conaty fired an 80 to tie for 20th and freshman Alexa Porter carded an 82 to finish 33rd. The Lady Tigers shot 316 as a team for the tournament.

Memphis finished the tournament just one stroke behind Elon for second place. Tournament host Campbell shot 301 and won the tournament by fourteen strokes. Maite Ortiz de Pinedo and Belen Diaz Cisneros of Campbell and Samantha Widmer of Elon shared individual championship honors, each shooting a 74.

The Lady Tigers will return to action when they travel to Pinehurst, N.C. to compete in the Pinehurst Challenge, March 9-11.
