MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Coming off their first tournament of the spring, the University of Memphis women's golf team has a busy week during spring break. The Lady Tigers open the week at the Lady Eagle Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Monday and Tuesday. The tournament will consist of 18 holes each day at Hattiesburg Country Club.

Southern Miss leads the field of 16 with their Golfstat ranking of 89th while Troy is the only other school in the top-100, ranking 100th. UL-Monroe follows at 117th, Memphis and South Alabama round out teams ranking in the top-150 at 135th and 149th, respectively.

Other NCAA Division I teams in the field include, Belmont, Austin Peay, Stephen F. Austin, UAB, Tennessee Tech, Marshall, UT-Pan American, Jackson State and New Orleans. West Florida ranked 10th in Golfstat's NCAA Division II rankings, and NAIA member William Carey rounds out the field.

Memphis will have eight participants in the field. Alex Aläng, Shelby Sain, Julia Hodgson, Natalie Turk and Ashleigh Whisenant will make-up the Lady Tigers' team while Ashley Kees, Sarah Mathews and Julia Gerlach will play as individuals. Whisenant is coming off of her second-best, 54-hole score of the season when she shot 233 at the Sir Pizza Terrapin Challenge on February 25 and 26 while the trio of Turk, Aläng and Kees all finished within two strokes. Sain shot 253 at the Sir Pizza Terrapin Challenge, and Hodgson, Mathews and Gerlach will be participating in their first tournament of the spring.

The 36-hole Lady Eagle Invitational will be played over two days starting Monday morning at 8:00 a.m., at Hattiesburg Country Club. The second round on the 6,111 yard-par 72 course will start at 7:30 a.m., on Tuesday. Troy is the defending champion while the Lady Tigers won the event in 2011.
