MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's golf team travels to Crystal River, Fla. for the 2014 UC Spring Invitational this Friday-Sunday, Mar. 21-23, at the Plantation Inn Golf Resort and Spa.

The Lady Tigers have put together a strong spring season so far, winning the USA Women's Invitational on Feb. 24-25 and then finishing in second place at the Lady Eagle Invitational last week.

For the second straight event, all seven golfers will participate this weekend. Leighann Cabush, Ashleigh Whisenant, Ashley Kees, Shelby Sain and Natalie Turk will participate as a team, and Julia Gerlach and Andrea Cropper will compete as individuals.

The Memphis Participants

Leighann Cabush continues to build on an impressive freshman campaign. After winning the individual title at the USA Women's Invitational, Cabush posted another top-five by finishing in a tie for fifth place at the Lady Eagle Invitational. The Waukesha, Wis. native has shot in the 70s in 18 of her 19 rounds this season.

Ashleigh Whisenant is coming off of her best performance of the 2013-14 season, finishing in a tie for 8th at the Lady Eagle Invitational. In the event's first round, Whisenant carded a career-best round of 72.

Ashley Kees posted her fifth top-20 finish of her Memphis career after finishing in 11th place at the Lady Eagle Invitational. The junior continues to get off to good starts, having shot in the 70s in the first round in six of seven events in 2013-14.

Shelby Sain has finished in the top 20 in both spring tournaments so far, finishing tied for 20th in Mobile and tied for 16th in Hattiesburg.

Natalie Turk shot a season-best round of 75 in the final round of the Lady Eagle Invitational and finished tied for 20th, the first top-20 of the season for the junior.

Julia Gerlach, participating as an individual this week, has finished in the top 30 in three consecutive events. Redshirt freshman Andrea Cropper enters play this week after shooting a career-best 78 in the final round of the Lady Eagle Invitational.

About the UC Spring Invitational

The University of Cincinnati welcomes the following 14 teams to the Plantation Inn Golf Resort & Spa this weekend:

- North Dakota State

- Seminole State

- Seton Hall

- Southern Miss

- Tampa

- Texas-Pan American


The teams will play 54 holes, one round each day, with a shotgun start to begin each round. Each round will start at 7:30 a.m. CT. Memphis will start tomorrow's opening round on holes two-five.
