Memphis, TN -

Ashleigh Garman, a four year golf letter winner from Saint Cecilia Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee, has signed a national letter of intent with the University of Memphis Lady Tiger golf team. Garman is the first signee for the Tigers this spring.

"We are delighted to have Ashleigh sign with our golf program," said interim head coach Donna Noonan. "She has excellent credentials and a strong junior golf resume. I know she will make an outstanding addition to the team."

Garman, who carried a 36.0 stroke average in nine-hole competition and a 78.0 average in 18-hole play during the 2003 prep season, placed second individually at the TSSAA Division II State Tournament this past fall. In doing so, she helped her Saint Cecilia squad to a third place finish in the state championships.

She was the low individual at the Davidson Academy Invitational last fall and tied for medalist honors at the 2003 Brentwood Bruin Invitational. Garman finished fourth in the TSSAA Division II Middle Region Tournament in 2003, which aided her squad in finishing second and advancing to the state championships.

Selected as the MVP golfer for four consecutive years, Garman received the team's academic award for the highest GPA and received the Gatorade Player of the Year Award. She was also named to the All-Midstate Golf Team in 2003.

On the national level, Garman finished fourth at the William Bryan Memorial Tournament, 12th at the AJGA Tournament in Rome, Georgia and 10th at the 2003 Golfweek/Precept Junior Invitational.
