GULF SHORES, Ala. - - The University of Memphis women's golf team will kick off its 2013 Conference USA Championship Monday morning at The Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Ala. Memphis will play the three-round tournament from Monday through Wednesday.

The Lady Tigers finished fourth at least year's C-USA Championship, played on the same course. Memphis returns three players from that team to the course for this year's competition, including seniors Alex Aläng, Julia Hodgson and Sarah Mathews.

Aläng was Memphis' highest-finisher last year, finishing 15th in the field with scores of 81-82-77 for a 229. Hodgson finished just outside the top 20 at least year's championships, finishing 21st with rounds of 78-78-76 for a 232. Mathews will look to improve on her 36th place finish from last year, when she carded rounds of 79-81-81 for a 240.

That trio of seniors will be joined in the field this year by Natalie Turk and Ashleigh Whisenant, both making their first C-USA tournament appearances as sophomores.

Mathews will lead things off for the Tigers when she tees off at 7:55 a.m. from hole 10. Turk will follow her off the tee at 7:55 a.m. and Hodgson follows at 8:05 a.m. Whisenant (8:15 a.m.) and Aläng (8:25 a.m.) will get Memphis onto the course and into competition against 10 other Conference USA teams.
