SARASOTA, Fla. – Former Lady Tiger Marissa Steen earned her first Symetra Tour victory at the Guardian Retirement Championship at Sara Bay Sunday, April 27. The 2012 graduate shot a 69 (-3) to force a playoff and would take home first place after the fifth playoff hole. Steen earned a $15,000 first prize purse for the victory.

Steen is in her second full year in the Symetra Tour, has finished in the top-10 in four of the five tournaments this year and currently ranks second on the money list with $30,977. She is second in scoring average with 70.64.  

Steen was named 2012 C-USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women’s golf. She was named 2011 C-USA All-Tournament team and 2011 C-USA Championship Runner-up and was named All-Conference USA in 2010.

The Symetra Tour is the official developmental golf tour of the LPGA Tour. The top-10 finishers for the Volvik Race for the Card at the end of each season earn membership for the next season of the LPGA. The Guardian Retirement Championship is the fifth of 19 tournaments schedule for the 2014 season, with action finishing up Sept. 18 at the Symetra Tour Championship.
