Belote and Steen Honored in CoSIDA Academic All-America Voting

MEMPHIS - Jack Belote and Marissa Steen were named to the 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District 4 Women's and Men's At-Large Second Teams. The Capital One Academic All-District Teams, selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada and recognize the nation's top student-athletes who excel in both competition and the classroom. The At-Large Teams honor student-athletes in the sports of golf, gymnastics, swimming and diving, tennis, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, water polo, fencing, women's bowling, women's crew, women's field hockey, men's volleyball and men's wrestling. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. Both Belote and Steen were named to Conference USA's Men's and Women's All-Academic Teams, respectively and have excelled in the classroom and on the course. Steen, a West Chester, Ohio native, earned a conference-best four medalist honors this season, leading Memphis to the team championship in all four events. In 11 tournaments played, Steen has posted eight top-10 finishes. Steen was also named First Team All-Conference USA in addition to being a member of the C-USA All-Tournament Team. Belote, currently competing with the Tigers in the NCAA Central-Indiana Regional, has finished in the top-20 in all but one event this season for Memphis. Belote was also named C-USA Golfer of the Week and Golf Digest's National Player of the Week after earning medalist honors at the Mason Rudolph Championship in addition to being named Second Team All-Conference USA.
