MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Former Arkansas State golfer and PGA Junior Tour assistant Adrian Sportsman has joined the Memphis women's golf staff, as announced by head coach Beth Harrelson on Friday.

Sportsman comes to the Tigers after completing a four-year letterwinning career with the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

"I am very excited about coach Sportsman coming on staff," Harrelson said. "She has a tremendous background as a player and as a golf teacher. I believe she will help the team and myself immeasurably now, and in the future."

While at Arkansas State, Sportsman served as a two-year team captain and leader. She recorded her best three-round collegiate performance in 2009 as a senior, when she carded a 220 to tie for third at the Rebel Intercollegiate.

The Corpus Christi, Texas, native graduated from Arkansas State in 2009 with her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.

Following graduation, Sportsman served as an assistant on the South Texas PGA Junior Tour, while assisting at junior camps in both Jonesboro and Corpus Christi.

Sportsman will complete her academic career in August of 2011, when she is slated to graduate with her master's in Sports Management from ASU.

In addition to coach Sportsman, Memphis welcomes two incoming freshmen into the program, Natalie Turk and Ashleigh Whisenant. Both are expected to arrive on campus in August.
