NORTH PLAINS, Ore.- University of Memphis women's golfer Stacey Tate shot a 10-over-par 81 in the opening round of the 106th U.S. Women's Amateur at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. The Lady Tiger senior will attempt to make the cut later today and advance to the match play portion of the prestigious tournament.

The lowest 64 scores in stroke play competition move on to the match play format. Although Tate ended day one tied for 118th, the Auckland, New Zealand, native is only six strokes behind a group of golfers tied for 63rd.

The field remains wide open, as only seven golfers in the field of 156 finished the first round under par, and 55 golfers join Tate within six strokes of making the cut.
