The University of Memphis Golf women's golf team is in 18th place after one round at the Johnie Imes Invitational. The tournament is being held at the 6,204 yard par 72 Club at Old Hawethorne with the University of Missouri serving as the tournament's host.

Senior Rachel Larson fired an opening round 80 to lead all Memphis players. She is in 44th place, followed by Marissa Steen, who carded an 81 and is in a tie for 52nd. Junior Leslie Grabeman shot 83 and is in 67th. Kathleen Glavin and Caitlin McDonald turned in rounds of 94 and 101, respectively.

"We struggled out there today; there's no doubt about it. However, we still have another day, and I fully expect us to improve," said Lady Tiger head coach Beth Harrelson.

Ole Miss and Missouri are tied for the lead, with both teams turning in scores of 300. Julia Porter of Missouri leads the individual competition after posting a five-under-par 67 in the opening round.

The Lady Tigers will continue play this afternoon as round two gets underway.
