Lady Tigers Finish 17th at Johnie Imes Invitational

The University of Memphis women's golf team finished 17th at the Johnie Imes Invitational. The tournament was held at the 6,204 yard par 72 Club at Old Hawethorne with the University of Missouri serving as the tournament's host. Freshman Marissa Steen led the way in the final round, carding a 76 for a three day total of 241 (81-84-76) and grabbing a share of 51st place individually. Steen was followed by senior Rachel Larson who finished with a total of 246 (80-80-86) to finish in 62nd. Junior Leslie Grabeman shot a final round 79 to finish tied for 64th with a three day total of 248 (83-86-79). Kathleen Glavin and Caitlin McDonald posted totals of 264 (94-86-84) and 287 (101-96-90), respectively. "I'm very proud of Marissa for coming out today and showing what she's capable of. She got some tough breaks in the first two rounds, but she shrugged them off and came out and played hard today." The Lady Tigers improved by 11 shots as a team in the final round to finish with a team total of 999 (338-336-325). Ole Miss made a final round comeback to win the competition, posting a team total of 900 (300-299-301). Arkansas-Little Rock and Missouri finished two shots back in tie for second, carding totals of 902 (303-290-309) and 902 (300-298-304), respectively. Julia Porter of the University of Missouri retained her lead, firing a final round 72 for a total of 209 (67-70-72) to win the individual competition. The Lady Tigers will return to action October 13 when they compete in the Arkansas State Invitational in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
