GREENVILLE, S.C.- Fresh off their first tournament victory of the season at last weekend's Kentucky Wildcat Fall Invitational, the University of Memphis women's golf team finds itself nine strokes behind the lead in their quest to win back-to-back events. The Lady Tigers shot an opening round of 311 and sit in a tie for seventh place with host Furman University.

Once again, senior Stacey Tate is leading the way for the Tigers. Tate fired a 2-over-par 74 in the opening round (36-38) to put herself in a tie for fourth place. Posting low rounds in windy conditions proved difficult for everyone in the field as only three players broke par on the day.

Sophomore Rachel Larson narrowly missed out on the top-20. Her score of 78 (38-40) tied her for 26th, just one shot back of 20th place.

Senior Cameron Barber opened the tournament with a 7-over-par 79 (37-42). Barber remains one stroke in back of Larson and two behind the top-20.

Junior Dawn-Marie Conaty shot an 8-over-par 80 and senior Kathryn O'Rourke turned in an 84 as the Tigers finished day one.

Second round action is set to tee off Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. central time. A Sunday morning shotgun will get the final round under way at 8:00 a.m. central.
