Tate Named C-USA Golfer of the Week
Oct. 11, 2006 MEMPHIS, Tenn.- University of Memphis senior golfer Stacey Tate was named the Conference USA golfer of the week following a record-tying weekend at the Lady Paladin Invitational. Tate's first conference weekly award of the season gives her a career total of five after winning once in 2005 and three times in 2006. The Auckland, New Zealand, tied the third-lowest 54-hole total in school history with a 219 (74-76-69) at the Lady Paladin. Tate's final-round 69 tied the fifth-lowest 18-hole score in school history. Tate equaled both marks earlier this season at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate. Tate got off to an uncharacteristically slow start when she finished fourth in the Lady Tiger lineup at the Badger Women's Golf Invitational Sept. 10-11. However, the senior golfer quickly returned to form by recording the lowest Lady Tiger finish at each of the next three tournaments. Tate led the Tigers to a fifth-place finish at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Sept. 25-26 after posting a 219 (69-74-76). Five days later, Tate led the Lady Tigers to their first tournament win of the season at the Wildcat Fall Invitational by shooting a 228 (77-77-74) to claim fourth place. Tate recorded her second straight top-five finish and led Memphis to a second-place finish at the Lady Paladin by claiming third-place with a 219 (74-76-69). Tate and the Lady Tigers have claimed top-ten finishes in each of their first four fall tournaments, including one first-place finish, and three top-fives. Memphis will close out the fall season when they travel to the America's Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invitational Nov. 6-7.
