MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's golf team travels to Gulf Shores, Ala. to conclude the 2013 fall season at the UAB Beach Blast.

The two-day event starts on Monday, Oct. 28 at the Peninsula Golf Club. Monday's opening round begins at 8:00 a.m. CT, and Tuesday's final will be a shotgun start also beginning at 8:00 a.m. CT.

The Lady Tigers are coming off of a fifth-place finish at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational in Bradenton, Fla. last weekend. Memphis posted an 892 in the 54-hole event, which matched the best 54-hole score in team history. The 1997 team also posted an 892 at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational.

In Florida, all five participants, Ashley Kees, Leighann Cabush, Shelby Sain, Ashleigh Whisenant and Julia Gerlach, either set or matched individual records.

Kees posted a 68 in Tuesday's final round, a career best score, and also the third best 18-hole score in school history. The junior finished with a 216 at the event, which is the sixth-best 54-hole score in program history.

Memphis will bring the same group that participated in Florida to the UAB Beach Blast: Kees, Sain, Cabush, Whisenant and Gerlach. Julia Gerlach will be playing in her third event of the season, while the other four golfers will each be making their fifth appearances.

Sain posted the best 54-hole score of her career, a 225, at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational. She also shot a 72 in the second round, the best 18-hole score of her career, and posted her second top-30 finish of the season.

Cabush has finished in the top-40 in all four events in 2013, and posted a 18-hole low of 73 in the first round in Florida.

Whisenant also carded an 18-hole best of 72 in the second round at the FIU event, while Gerlach matched her career-best with a 73 in the event's final round.

The UAB Beach Blast features Memphis along with the following teams: Alabama State, Austin Peay, Belmont, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Louisiana Monroe, McNeese State, Sam Houston State, Southern Miss, Tulsa and event host UAB.
