Lady Tigers in Fourth After First Round at Ross Resorts Invitational
Nov. 1, 2004 PINEHURST, N.C. - After the first round, the University of Memphis women's golf team is in fourth place at the Ross Resorts Invitational hosted by Rollins College. Memphis shot a 317 in the first round, 11 strokes behind the leader James Madison. The Lady Tigers are only four strokes behind Rollins College for second place. Sophomore Kathryn O'Rourke led Memphis with a 5-over-par 77 and is tied for seventh individually. It is the second-straight tournament O'Rourke has led the Lady Tigers in the opening round after shooting a 70 in the first round of the Lady Paladin Invitational on Oct. 22. Sophomores Stacey Tate and Meghan Mahoney also finished in the top 16 individually. Tate shot a 78 to finish the first round tied for 10th and Mahoney had a 8-over-par 80, putting her in a tie for 16th place. The Lady Tigers play the second round of the tournament this afternoon and a final round on Tuesday.
