MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's golf team received National Letters of Intent from three student-athletes for 2014-15, head coach Beth Harrelson announced Saturday.

Megan Beane (Clarksville, Tenn./Clarksville High School), Michaela Fletcher (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) and Emily Goldenstein (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West High School) make up the 2014 signing class for the Lady Tigers.

Megan Beane              Clarksville, Tenn.                (Clarksville High School)

"I chose Memphis because it felt like home. The golf team is amazing, each of the Lady Tigers are special.  Coach Beth Harrelson and Sally (assistant coach Sally Andrews) are great and I just love their personalities and how they run things." -- Megan Beane

Megan Beane was on the varsity golf team at Clarksville for four seasons and finishes her prep career as one of the area's top prospects. Beane led Clarksville to two consecutive state championships in golf (2011, 2012) and was a Tennessee First Team All-Area selection four times. Individually, Beane finished 11th overall in the state championship in 2012, and tied for ninth in the event in 2011.

Beane played in three events on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) earlier this year, and finished in the top 10 in all three events. In her final event, the Nike Cup Series Event #3, Beane was the individual champion after shooting a 155 (83-72).

Beane also participated in four events on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour in 2011-12, and posted top 15 finishes in all four events

Academically, Beane is near the top of her class and will graduate high school with an honors degree. She is interested in pursuing a degree in biology or psychology at Memphis and wants to attend medical school after college.

The most exciting thing about becoming a member of the program is probably being able to join a family. Everyone on the team is there for each other and they all have each other's back.  I'm really excited to be included in that". -- Megan Beane

Michaela Fletcher                    Pietermaritzburg, South Africa

"After doing research about the school and getting to know coach Harrelson, I found that the University of Memphis will benefit both my education and my golf game. The facilities at Memphis and the coaches will only help me improve my game and benefit the Lady Tigers." -- Michaela Fletcher

Michaela Fletcher comes to Memphis all the way from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Fletcher represented South Africa Junior Golf in tournaments around the world over the past three years. She earned a third-place finish in the 2011 Albatross International Junior Championship in New Delhi, Indiana and also finished in third at the 2013 RB German Junior Masters.

In 2012, Fletcher played in the Duke of York Young Champions Tournament at historic Royal Troon in Scotland after winning the South Africa Girls U18 Championship.

Fletcher was a member of the South African Elite Squad in 2012 and 2013 after putting together a string of top finishes. She was the runner-up at the 2012 South African Ladies Matchplay Championship and a third-place finisher at the South African Ladies Matchplay Championship in 2013.

"Having never been to America, I am looking forward to experiencing life at a university and playing college golf in the United States. I feel that I have made a wise choice in the University of Memphis." -- Michaela Fletcher

Emily Goldenstein             Ballwin, Mo.                 Parkway West High School

"I chose Memphis because the school offers everything I was looking for along with a good golf program. I really like coach Harrelson and the golf facilities exceeded my expectations." -- Emily Goldenstein

Emily Goldenstein was an All-State Class Two Missouri Team selection in 2012 and 2013. At Parkway West High School, Goldenstein qualified for the state tournament in all four seasons as a golfer. She posted top-35 finishes in all four state tournament appearances, including a third place finish as a junior in 2012 and a sixth-place finish as a senior in 2013.

Goldenstein was named the Suburban South Conference Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013, and was a First-Team Suburban South Conference selection in four consecutive seasons. Goldenstein was also a St. Louis Post Dispatch All-Metro St. Louis selection in 2012 (2013 selections not yet announced), and a third team selection as a sophomore in 2011.

Goldenstein was named the 2013 Accelerated Golf Tour Player of the Year in 2013 after posting three first-place finishes on the tour. As a result, she qualified for and played in the 2013 Junior PGA National Championship in Washington D.C.

At Parkway West, Goldenstein served as the No. 1 golfer on the varsity team for all four seasons. She is also a four-year starter on the varsity basketball team, and holds the school record for career three pointers. Goldenstein holds a 3.8 GPA and will graduate from Parkway West this spring.
