Head Coach Brooks Monaghan inks three Canadians, four ECNL players on Signing Day
Just like head coach Brooks Monaghan, Jodi Fisher has been a part of the Memphis women's soccer program every day since its inception.
A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, Fisher is entering her fifth season in her current position of assistant coach. Prior to that, she served as a graduate assistant coach for one season and as a volunteer assistant coach for one season, which was preceded by a four-year playing career for the Tigers.
Fisher began her career at the U of M as a player on the inaugural Lady Tiger squad in 1995. She played four seasons, and in 79 career games, compiled school records that still stand today for career goals (33), points (92), and shots (178). She also is the co-holder of the record for most assists in a game (4) and is second all-time in school history in assists in both a season (11) and career (26). A third team All-Conference USA selection as a junior in 1997, Fisher was also named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team in 1995.
At the conclusion of her playing days, Fisher spent one year as a volunteer assistant coach in 1999. She then accepted a position as a graduate assistant coach and served in that role for the 2000 season, helping in the transition from former head coach Les Szabo to Monaghan. She was named a full-time assistant coach prior to the 2001 season. In addition to helping Monaghan with on-field coaching duties and recruiting, Fisher has also played an instrumental part in the Tigers' success in the classroom. The 2002 squad had a combined grade-point average of 3.08, and 92 percent of the team's members were named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, which was best among U of M athletic teams. The last two seasons, Memphis was the recipient of the women's soccer team academic award from the NSCAA, and last year had three different players garner individual academic awards. This past spring, the women's soccer team posted a team GPA of 3.434, the highest ever for a single semester in program history.
Fisher earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Memphis in 1999 and also earned her master's degree in Student Personnel Services from Memphis in 2002. She is single and resides in Memphis.
