Behind the Scenes: Women's Soccer CUSA Championship Rings Photoshoot

Take a behind the scenes look at the CUSA Championship Rings photoshoot with women's soccer assistant coach Jodi Grant. See what Jodi has to say about her five rings, the team's fifth championship, and the upcoming season.

J. Grant

Jodi (Fisher) Grant has been a part of the women's soccer program since its inception in 1995. Along with head coach Brooks Monaghan, Grant has led the Lady Tigers program to five conference titles and five NCAA College Cup appearances.

A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, Grant is in her 14th season as a Lady Tigers assistant coach in 2013. Prior to that, she served as a graduate assistant coach for one season and as a volunteer assistant coach for a year. Grant has also been a great recruiter in her native country, as Memphis has brought in several Canadians over the past few years.

Grant first came to the University of Memphis as a player on the inaugural Lady Tigers squad in 1995. In her four seasons wearing the Blue and Gray, Grant tallied 94 points, 33 goals and 26 assists, setting program records in points and goals. Grant's records were passed by Kylie Hayes (2005-08). Grant is also the co-holder of the single-game assists record (4) and is second on the assists charts for both a season (11) and career (26).

A 1997 All-C-USA third team selection as a junior, Grant also was named to the 1995 C-USA All-Freshman Team. She was recognized for her on the field success as the first women's soccer student-athlete inducted into the M Club Hall of Fame in 2003.

In addition to helping Monaghan with on-field coaching duties and recruiting, Grant also has played an instrumental part in the Lady Tigers' success in the classroom. In eight of the last nine seasons, Memphis was a recipient of the team academic award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and in the last five semesters, Memphis has had 24 or more players finish with a grade-point average above 3.0. The 2009 Lady Tigers combined to post a program-record 3.6 grade-point average.

Grant earned her undergraduate degree in exercise and sport science from Memphis in 1999 and also earned a master's degree in student personnel services from the U of M in 2002. Formerly Jodi Fisher, she married Memphis men's soccer head coach Richie Grant in May of 2006. She gave birth to a son, Hayden, in January of 2009 and a daughter, Katelyn, in March of 2011. The Grant family resides in Memphis.
