MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Lady Tigers played the Auburn Tigers to a 0-0 draw in exhibition play at Mike Rose Stadium in Memphis on Saturday evening.

Lizzy Simonin, the 2010 Conference USA Defender of the Year, had perhaps the play of the game when a deep ball was played to Auburn forward Kim Spence. Spence had clear space ahead of her, but Simonin caught her from behind and cleared the ball away.

Both teams had multiple scoring chances in the second half, but neither team could find the back of the net. After being outshot 4-3 in the first half, Memphis outshot Auburn 12-11 for the game.

Memphis and Auburn played to a draw in the first half of the game with each team having a pair of chances at putting a tally on the board.

Auburn had the first two scoring chances of the game. The first opportunity came on a shot by Tatiana Coleman in the tenth minute in which Memphis goalkeeper Elise Kuhar-Pitters made a sliding save. Auburn’s second scoring chance of the half came in the 29th minute on a Julie King header that hit the crossbar.

Memphis’ two scoring chances came in the 36th and 38th minutes, respectively. Freshman Kylie Davis took a header that went wide right. Taylor Isenhower followed with a shot that went wide left.

Kuhar-Pitters and Boyle split the game evenly with each playing a 45 minute half. Boyle recorded three saves and Kuhar-Pitters finished with one.

Davis along with fellow freshmen Kelley Gravlin and Carly Cassady made their debut as starters.

The U of M will open the regular season against LSU on Friday, August 19 at 7 p.m.
