COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Memphis women's soccer team fell to Missouri, 3-2, in Friday night's 2001 season opener in Columbia, Mo.

Down 2-0 early in the first half, sophomore Anja Nielsen connected on a Becca Amrozowicz assist at the 23:14 mark to pull the Lady Tigers within a goal heading into the break. However, a Missouri goal early in the second period proved to be enough to hold off Memphis for the win.

Alison Baker's unassisted goal with three minutes left in regulation brought the Lady Tigers within a goal, but they could not muster another tally and start the 2001 season 0-1.

Friday's match, the first-ever night game for Missouri women's soccer, set a school attendence record with nearly 2,000 fans.

Memphis is back in action on Sunday evening, when the Lady Tigers take on Southwest Missouri St. in their home opener at 5 p.m. at Echles Field.
