Evansville, Ind. - The University of Memphis women's soccer team outshot Evansville 15-5, but could only escape with a 0-0 double-overtime draw as the Lady Tigers (0-2-1) snapped a two-game losing streak Friday at Black Beauty Field at McCutchan Stadium.

The Lady Tigers had their chances throughout the contest, but a stellar performance by UE goalkeeper Liz Hains preserved the tie for the home team. Memphis goalkeeper Amy Clunie also recorded her first-career shutout in what was the first start of her collegiate career. Clunie had an easier time than Hains, as the Purple Aces did notforce her to make a save the entire match.

Memphis outshot the Purple Aces (0-1-1) 7-1 in the first half and had four chances in the extra periods, but the team could not find the back of the net.

"I'm disappointed we didn't win the game because I felt like we deserved too," Memphis head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "But, we played a lot better than we did in our opening two games and I am really pleased with that. We just didn't finish our chances tonight."

Junior Kirsty Marr had the apparent game-winning goal in the second overtime, but her shot went of Hains' foot and trickled wide right as the keeper dove the wrong way on the shot attempt. Marr led the Lady Tigers with five shot attempts and junior Yuiko Konno added three.

The Lady Tigers return to action Tuesday with a home match against Southeast Missouri State. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Echles Field.
