Final Stats

Springfield, Mo.-- - The University of Memphis women's soccer team put an end to a season opening five-game winless streak with a 3-0 victory over Drury Sunday. The Lady Tigers (1-3-2) sealed the victory early on as Forward Yuiko Konno finished a corner kick from junior Susannah Wells in the opening minute.

Freshman Amy Clunie was impressive in goal as she posted the second shutout of her young career. "We played much better today and it feels good to get a victory," Head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "We got an early goal and that always gives your team a lift and we were able to add a couple more and put the game away."

Junior Monica Powell scored her first collegiate goal to give Memphis a 2-0 advantage. Sophomore Robyn Smart added her first goal of the season to close out the scoring for the Lady Tigers.

Wells' assist on the opening goal was her first of the season.

The Lady Tigers finished their three-match swing against Missouri schools at 1-1-1. Memphis will return to action next Friday for its first Conference USA match of the season against Louisville at 7 p.m.
