OXFORD, Miss. - The University of Memphis women's soccer team (5-2-0) had their three-game winning streak come to an end Sunday night with a 3-0 loss to Ole Miss (6-1-1).

Memphis controlled the ball early in the contest and made its first attack when Christabel Oduro was fouled on the left side of the box. Valerie Sanderson attempted the penalty kick for the Lady Tigers in the 11th minute, but had it saved by Ole Miss keeper Kelly McCormick on the right side of the goal to keep the game scoreless.

The Rebels struck in the 17th minute as Bethany Bunker found Mandy McCalla in the middle of the box to put Ole Miss up 1-0, ending Memphis' shutout streak of 281:56.

Memphis kept attacking with shots from Nugene Nugent and Danielle Tolmais before McCalla had another shot on goal, but goalkeeper Maryse Bard-Martel prevented the Rebels from doing any damage.

The Lady Tigers had a good look in the 37th minute as Nicole Zeidler found Kaitlyn Atkins on a cross. Atkins sent in a good shot towards the right side only to have it saved by McCormick near the right corner of the goal.

At the half, the Rebels held a 5-4 advantage in shots while both teams had two shots on goal.

In the 50th minute, Ole Miss kept the ball in the box off a corner kick before Rafaelle Souza gave the Rebels a 2-0 lead off an assist from McCalla.

Ole Miss stretched its lead to 3-0 one minute later as Souza found the net for the second time off a free ball that bounced off a player in the box.

Memphis got a good look in the 58th minute as Marissa Duguay sent in a header that made a tricky bounce and almost went over McCormick's outstretched hands before she gathered it to prevent a Memphis score.

Memphis continued to attack with Nugent getting a shot on goal in the 72nd minute but the Lady Tigers would not be able to get anything across for a 3-0 defeat.

Memphis continues its six-game road trip Friday when the Lady Tigers take on Florida Gulf Coast at 6 p.m. in Ft. Myers, Fla.
