MILWUAKEE, Wis. - The U of M women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to defending Conference USA Champion Marquette at Valley Fields in Milwaukee, Wis., on Sunday afternoon.

Down 3-0 with under 15 minutes left, Memphis midfielder Rebecca Sparrows' two second-half goals brought the Lady Tigers within one. But as Sparrows' second goal came with only 16 seconds left in regulation, Marquette's three goals were enough to hold-off a late Lady Tiger run.

Memphis bench produced vitually all of the Lady Tigers' offensive production. Sparrows, who did not start, was assisted on her first goal by substitutes Amy Ciezki and Tiffany Thompson. Ciezki and Sparrows also connected for the second Lady Tiger tally.

Marquette's defense smothered Memphis in the first half, outshooting the Lady Tigers 8-0 and carrying a 2-0 lead at the break. But Memphis adjusted to the Golden Eagle pressure, outshooting Marquette, 9-6 in the second period.

With the loss, Memphis falls to 2-4-1 (0-2, C-USA), while Marquette wins its sixth-straight to improve to 6-1 (2-0, C-USA).

The Lady Tigers are back in action this Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Echles Field at 7 p.m.
