MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's soccer team was topped 2-1 by Vanderbilt at Echles Field on the U of M campus Wednesday night.

The Lady Tigers and Commodores played a scoreless first half, with Memphis outshooting Vanderbilt 6-4. Then, only four minutes into the second half, Vandy took the lead on a goal by Commodore forward Lizzie Johnson at the 49:17 mark.

Johnson's goal came after Vanderbilt midfielder Molly Wilson's cross deflected off a Lady Tiger defender. Johnson then turned and fired the go-ahead goal into the lower right corner.

Memphis evened the score at 1-1 exactly two minutes later when the Commodore defense was whistled for tripping Lady Tiger midfielder Annika Moller in the box. Freshman sweeper Angela Willoughby converted the penalty kick, blasting a liner into the lower left corner.

Vandy scored the game-winner when Commodore forward Jessie Wolfe dumped a loose ball past Memphis keeper Katarina Wicksell at the 61:28 mark.

With the loss, Memphis falls to 2-5-1 on the season, while the Commodores improve to 2-4 overall.

The Lady Tigers will try to snap a three-game slide and improve on a 0-2 C-USA record when they play host to DePaul at Echles Field at 7 p.m. on Friday and against Cincinnati at Mike Rose Stadium at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
