COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. - Memphis women's soccer dropped a 3-2 decision to Christian Brothers at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex on Wednesday night.

Despite holding a 2-0 all-time record against the Bucs, including a 14-2 scoring advantage in those contests, the Lady Tigers came into this match playing the role of the underdog. Undefeated CBU, led by former Dayton All-American Missy Gregg, began the week ranked No. 5 in Division II.

The Lady Tigers, however, took the early lead when freshman midfielder Annika Moller converted on a nifty feed from junior midfielder Becca Amrozowicz. Amrozowicz attracted two CBU defenders on the right side and centered to Moller who lofted a ball from about 16 yards for a 1-0 advantage at the 31:36 mark.

Gregg and the Bucs would go on to reel-off three unanswered tallies. First Gregg was the recipient of an assist from midfielder Tracey Mulligan at the 34:05 mark. Then Gregg and former Memphis Mercury teammate Margaret Saurin would hook-up for the next two Buccaneer goals.

Gregg first converted on a Saurin assist for a 2-1 CBU lead before the end of the first half. Gregg later returned the favor, feeding Saurin the game-winner with under 25 minutes remaining.

The Lady Tigers put together a late run that fell only a few feet short of tying the game. Memphis native Mary Shelton converted on an assist from forward Michelle Sorensen, moving the score to 3-2 with less than two minutes to play. Then, with 40 seconds to play, Memphis was awarded a corner and Amy Ciezki put Susannah Wells' serve just over the crossbar.

Memphis keeper Katarina Wicksell's diving save on a Saurin penalty kick midway through the second half kept the game within reach for the Lady Tigers.

With the loss, Memphis falls to 3-7-1, while the Buccaneers remain undefeated at 6-0.

The Lady Tigers are back in action when they travel to Cookman, Tenn., to take on Tennessee Tech on October 9 at 3:00 p.m.
