FORT WORTH, Texas - With a 1-0 victory over TCU at Garvey Rosenthal Soccer Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday afternoon, the University of Memphis women's soccer team snapped a six-game losing streak dating back to September 30 when the Lady Tigers dropped a 2-0 decision to Cincinnati.

Freshman Mary Shelton scored the only goal of the match after stealing the ball from a Horned Frog defender in front of the goal and snuck a shot past the TCU keeper into the right side in the 14th minute. The Lady Tiger defense took on a bend-but-don't-break menatality in the second half, allowing 11 Frog shots, but preserving the shutout. Memphis keeper Katarina Wicksell had five saves for the Lady Tigers.

The win breaks the longest losing streak in Memphis history and sends TCU on a three-game slide of its own.

"We fought hard for this win and deserved it," said Lady Tiger assistant coach Jody Fisher. "We're very proud, the girls have worked hard through despite our recent results. It's a long time coming and we're relieved to say the least."

Memphis is back in action when it heads to Birmingham, Ala., to take on UAB on Friday at 7 p.m.
